This time, Freeway’s Summer 2012 Collection brings you another innovative collaboration with swimwear designer Twinkle Ferraren.  Freeway x Twinkle Ferraren 2012 Swimwear Collection features her Hand Woven Collection. The intelligently handwoven strips of swimsuit fabric in the collection creates that sexy, fun and daring attitude of this summer season. As Ferraren’s 3rd collaboration with Freeway, she gushes, “This is a fusion of different visions, aesthetics and styles. It’s always nice working with Freeway because I get to express other emotions and styles aside from just my own.”

“I describe this collection as ‘feminine in action’. The collection features handwoven braids, weave designs and appliqué in sporty, active silhouettes with a hint of feminine details.  Her inspiration for this collection is her amazement with the great talent of our local weavers, the very intricate patterns and the passion that comes with it.  With a keen understanding of what women want, the collection does not sacrifice style and feminity no matter how active or sporty their lifestyle gets. “More and more women are now getting into sports, being active and keeping healthy thru dance, sports and water activities.  It’s great to see some feminine details in what we wear most especially in swimwear”, Ferraren shared.  With the successful handpainted collection for Freeway in the last few years, Ferraren ventures into another labor intensive beautiful application that makes each piece a keeper.  “As a designer, it is a task and an honor at the same time to bring to light the person’s inner beauty and unique personality whenever she wears your creations”, Ferraren answered when asked on how she applies life lessons to clothes and designing.

Freeway x Manansala: A Special Tribute

Imagine my excitement when I got an invite from Ms. Hannah Reyes a day before the event. It was good to know that my fellow blogger friends were also invited so I knew that I wasn’t going to be there alone. Besides, it’s Freeway so I wouldn’t want to miss it!

Fashion meets Art again this Holiday season as fashionalistic brand Freeway combines the best of both worlds with the latest installment of the most-loved National Artist Collectors’ Series. This Holiday 2011 collection features the works of Vicente Manansala, National Artist for Visual Arts. This is the 6th installment of the series which was creatively originated in 2009.

Vicente Manansala, our beloved well known Philippine cubist painter and illustrator, reinterpreted or indigenized cubism as he drew his themes from the familiar Filipino environment. Some of his masterpieces are Madonna of the Slums, a portrayal of mother and child from the countryside who became urban shanty residents once in the city; and Jeepneys where Manansala combined the elements of provincial folk culture with the congestion issues of the city. Manansala was proclaimed National Artist for Painting in 1982.

This creative fusion of fashion and art is reinstated to a lavishly beautiful 22 piece collection including classic and modern tailored dresses, woven shirt tops, sublimation print graphic tees and dresses, Manansala watch, tote bags and accessories. I rushed to find seats since almost all of the shoes were already occupied. I rushed to the available front rows seats only to be met by the reserved signs. Jonver David, told me to go sit in the front. I jokingly said, “Sure, only if my name were Divine Lee”.
